Kankurgachi Mitali Sangha Sarbojanin Durgotsav:

The theme of Kankurgachi Mitali is ‘Satya Janani’ and it shows a pictorial depiction of four stages- Conceiving the child, Delivering the child, Upbringing, and Admonishing and reprimanding the child for his wrong doings just like Ma Durga who showered her love, affection and concern for little Ganesha but on the other side with all the wrath and anger, She killed the demon Mahishasur. The Pandal Structure is built by plaster of paris, bamboo, fiber stone, silver stone and many others. The four stages are elucidated by fiber models.

The obsolete Ser-Pai shilpo is the theme of this year's Lake Town Netaji Sporting Durgotsab. In ancient days, people used to weigh something by a unique container called Ser and Pai. The smiths of Suri, in the district of Birbhum are still making this container, but not for use, but for the decoration of rich family's show-case. Kilograms, grams now replaced Ser and Pai. The idol of goddess Durga is made with a traditional form, in a compact manner as seen in this picture.
