Tridhara Sammilani Sarbojanin Durgotsav:

Tridhara Sammilani Durga Pujo 2012 is recreating the thoughts of Buddha. The name Buddhism comes from the word Budhi which means '' to wake up'' and thus Buddhism is the philosophy of awakening, the philosophy of love and wisdom, and both meanings describing Buddhism perfectly. Buddhism teaches that we should try to develop our intellectual capacity to the fullest, to spread love and kindness, Buddhism is a supreme philosophy.
Now the question that seems to occupy our minds is that why Tridhara Sammilani Durga Pujo 2012 has chosen the concept of Buddhism during Durga Puja. Buddha never claimed himself to be the Almighty; he was a person who by the virtue of his meditation got enlightenment. The image of the most popular posture of Buddha with his hands resting on his lap and a benevolent and sympathetic smile existing between his lips indicate the necessity of spreading the message of peace, harmony and universal brotherhood.
Just as Ma Durga eliminate and eradicate evil from our life and establishes peace similarly the teaching and preaching of Buddha is to recognize the hidden inner strength and learn the good qualities of life which would ultimately facilitate the arrival and advent of peace in our lives and society.
The mandap is made with decorated pieces of wood and the idol of Buddha is made by Brass chip.

Samaj Sebi Sarbojanin Durgotsav:

This year Samajsebi have showcased the story of Sarbojonin Durgostav as ‘Shekal–Ekal : 100 years past and present with a caption of “ Yesteryears Aristocratic Ritual Pujas and Todays Theme Pujas”.
They have made a sincere effort to present before you the ambience, environment, surrounding ,  rituals of both the pujas. If not our purpose to compare or belittling any of them – 100 years old puja and recent theme pujas.
Both the pujas have strong points to recognize. Old pujas have different values, their top priority was to ensure that every rituals of pujas are performed without making any compromise whatsoever , even the structure of Devi Durga”Kathamo” was being built over a long period of time in presence of everybody. Making of Devi Durga step by step everyday was exciting. Usually on the day of Rathajatra the ceremonial restructuring of ‘ Kathamo’ used to begin, therefore the full , atmosphere of Durgaostav initiated from them and reached the height on the day of ceremonial ‘ Chokhkhudaan ’. During pujas all the intricate details of rituals were performed with at most care and primary functions.
Moving with the changing times we must agree that theme pujas have offered jobs to lakhs and lakhs of people . Being in the puja affair we see that  lakhs and lakhs of people looking forward to pujas to earn their livelihood for whole year. In theme puja the ceremony starts with “Khuti Puja”, it has got nothing to do with the images of Devi Durga. The artistic innovation, flamboyance is the primary performance and objective. The Jagg, gadgets , flashy lights makes it gorgeous. It is often seen that “Mangolik” part and rituals takes the back seat and looks secondary to them.
